Wannabee Carvers

First you need to at least find an apprentice, find out what other Tiki Carvers are using for tools. You need support that explaining cannot give for locating the type of tool and the source for the palm logs for a tiki or maybe just a board of lumber (pine) at Home Depot to make a tiki sign. Don't start carving yet, don't carve old wood, we need soft wood for practice (Basswood). Next go online and buy your Wood Carving Tools. Strip off the bark if you get palm wood, buy a
chainsaw and an electric grinder to rough cut your pattern, be careful with your mallet and chisels to clean it up, then sand it. I like the pine tikis but if you don't want something too complicated then watch Chainsaw Carving an Owl to get started. or Crazy Al Evans might offer a few tips for you. Also sign up to Tiki Central and meet some Tiki Carvers in your area.
